MEET THE STAFF

BRENT

Hi, I’m Brent. As manager of the Harrisburg Center, I am responsible for most of the parts ordering, inventory, and general store operations. I have been a motorcycle enthusiast for over 35 years. For me, there is nothing better to relieve stress than to just go for a simple ride. In the winter, I am a full time fan of our local Hershey Bears.  I joined the Discount Vacuum & Sewing Center team in 1995 and have seen many changes in this industry. I also consider myself a pet hair expert, as my wife and I share our home with many animals. With my experience, I feel very qualified to assist in just about any of your vacuum and sewing needs. Feel free to stop by our Center and give us the opportunity to help you with your specific situation.

AMY

Hi! My name is Amy and I am the sewing manager at the Mechanicsburg Center. Since 2009, I have helped many of our sewing customers find a new machine that best suits their needs. You will also find me teaching a number of the classes at our centers. I am a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a degree in Music Recording Technology. When I am not working on my many sewing projects, I am usually listening to music, enjoying a Starbucks beverage, or watching The Office. Of all the types of sewing machines, the sergers are my absolute favorite to use! Next time you stop by, be sure to ask me what’s new and exciting in the world of sewing!

CINDY

Hi, my name is Cindy. I’ve worked for Discount Sewing & Vacuum Center since 2006. Yes, I know Vacuum comes first in our store name, but Sewing is always first for me. I am usually in the Harrisburg Store working on sewing classes or teaching people how to use their new sewing, embroidery or serger machines. As you can probably guess, I LOVE TO SEW anything from clothing to pillows and curtains to quilts. I also enjoy reading, doing word puzzles, and many other crafts too numerous to mention. My family and I enjoy camping, and even though our two daughters are grown they still go with us when they can. Next time you’re in the area, stop in and show me your latest sewing project. I love to see what other sewers have been stitching.

JIM

Hi, I’m Jim. I’ve been a technician at Discount Vacuum & Sewing Center since 1996. When I’m not working, I’m either mowing grass or working on my race cars. On the weekends, I’m usually at the race track or watching NASCAR on TV. If you have any problems with your vacuum cleaner or sewing machine, I’m the person to see.

DEB

Hi, I’m Deb. I left my marketing job and came on board in 1994 when we opened our second location. Any of the behind-the-scenes work that needs to be done, like bookkeeping, taxes, payroll, etc., is my responsibility. I also take care of ordering parts and processing warranty for the Mechanicsburg store. When I’m not in the store, you can usually find me in an ice rink. I play with the Black Widows Ice Hockey Team, who won both our league championship in 2010 and our division of the Canadian Cup in Montreal in 2009 and 2010. Since 1998, Bob and I have been season ticket holders for the Hershey Bears and have enjoyed watching them win their third Calder Cup in five years. If you have a vacuum or sewing problem, or want to talk hockey, stop in and see me.

BOB

I’m Bob and I founded Discount Vacuum & Sewing Center in 1992. I grew up working in my family’s vacuum and sewing business, so I’ve been doing this for a very long time. Currently, I manage our Mechanicsburg Center, but I oversee both our locations. When I’m not in our Centers, I’m usually either watching or playing ice hockey. I’m a Hershey Bears season ticket holder along with my wife, Deb. I’m also a goaltender for an ice hockey team in Lancaster. Our team reached the semi-finals at the 2010 USA Hockey National Championships in Tampa. My other hobbies include running and riding my bike. Over the years, I’ve come to know many of you and always enjoy our chats in the store. For those I haven’t yet met, stop in and say hello.
