PROJECT LINUS Make A Blanket Day was February 17, 2007 THANK YOU to ALL the "Blanketeers" who made this event a success!  We will post pictures from this year's event soon on this page, including the winner of the Janome #3050 sewing machine!  Thanks as always to Project Linus area coordinators Ann Smyser and Karen Stetler without whom this event and cause would not be happening in this area.  They are the driving force behind the success of Project Linus in Dauphin and Cumberland Counties.

Project Linus is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide love, security, warmth and comfort to children across the country who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.  "Make A Blanket Day" is a culmination of blanket making workshops that occur throughout the year.  See the links below for more information and for blanket specifications.  Groups and individuals can drop off blankets to both locations of Discount Vacuum & Sewing Center all year long!

HELPING OTHERS

Pillows of Love

Pillows-of-Love is a ministry that provides beautiful pillowcases and Bibles to women and children who are displaced, in a recovery shelter, a pregnancy center, or an international orphanage.  The ministry is based on Psalm 4:8 "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."  Each pillowcase is handcrafted by a caring volunteer and embellished with the message of Psalm 4:8.  A gift of The New Testament or a childrens book about Jesus is included with each domestic pillowcase.  It is our hope that these gifts will give them a special place to lay their heads, remind them of Gods love each time they go to sleep, and provide the comfort and inspiration needed to seek shelter in our Lord Jesus Christ.
