Q: What are the 3 positions the Air Lift has for my sewing machine?

A: The Air Lift has 3 positions for your sewing machine: storage, flatbed and freearm.
Follow these simple instructions to move the Air Lift into the 3 Different Positions:
1) Once your cabinet is fully assembled you can begin moving the Air Lift 2) To activate the mechanism for the first time open the door on the cabinet and push down with 2 hands on the platform and release, as shown. 3) The top position known as the freearm position usually takes 2 small pushes to activate. The freearm position has more resistance then the other two positions. 4) Once you are comfortable moving the platform up and down into the 3 positions place your sewing machine on the platform. 5) Before moving the platform with your sewing machine on it, check to see that your machine is sitting centered on the platform and will not hit the sides of the cabinet as it moves up and down in the cabinet. 6) Push down on your sewing machine sitting in the cabinet to activate the Air Lift, as shown. 7) Heavier machines (20 pounds or more) may move slower then other lightweight machines and may need assistance as they move into the top positions. Heavier machines may require you to lift slightly on the platform or machine to lock the Air Lift into position.

Q: What is a Custom Insert?
A: Custom Insert:
Plexi-glass piece made to the exact dimensions of the cabinet's opening and your specific sewing machine.
The insert is used only in the flatbed position of the cabinet, which is the second or middle position on the airlift.
Remove your accessory kit from the front of your machine to reveal your freearm. The insert fits around the freearm and center of your machine.

When measuring the tallness of your machine, make sure to measure from the thread spindle at the top of your machine all the way to the bottom. The base height for sewing in the flatbed position cannot exceed 3 1/8" tall. For the 300 and 400 series cabinets they will accommodate sewing machines no larger then 8 ½" front to back, 17 3/8" wide and 13 1/8" tall. For the 500 series12 9/16" front to back, 18 7/8" wide and 13 1/8" tall.

Q: The mounting bolts included in my shipment of the 100 or 200 series cabinet don't work with my machine, why?
A: The mounting bolts included in your shipment are for any Janome, Singer and Kenmore sewing machines only. If your sewing machine isn't one of these brands, you will need to get mounting bolts from the manufacture or dealer of your sewing machine.

Q: Why are there so many holes on the platform in the 100 or 200 series cabinet?
A: Since the sewing machine storage position is at a 30-degree angle upside down all sewing machines need to be mounted down to the platform. We have drilled numerous holes in the mounting platform to accommodate 97% of the mounting configurations in most sewing machines sold today.
Q: Why does the platform have two holes drilled together that look like a figure 8 in the 100 or 200 series cabinets?
A: Because many sewing machines have very similar but not exact mounting locations, this gives the platform the flexibility to work with more machines without the need for the customer to drill more holes.

Q: The holes in the mounting platform for the 100 or 200 series cabinets do not line up with the holes in the base of my machine, what do I do?
A: Unfortunately we cannot have a hole for every machine in the market. If you cannot find two holes that line up for your threaded holes at the base of your sewing machine, just drill a small hole in the platform with a 3/8" drill bit. You may drill through the platform wings if necessary.

Q: My portable sewing machine does not have mounting threads on the bottom to mount my machine down, what do I do?
A: The 100 and 200 series cabinets are not made for portable sewing machines. Some manufactures do sell a separate piece to add to the bottom of your portable sewing machine to enable it to be mounted, call your dealer or manufacture for more details. If a mounting base is not available you cannot store your sewing machine in this cabinet or you may need to return it for a cabinet with an airlift mechanism.

Q: My machine won't go all the way down into the storage position on the 100 or 200 series cabinets, what do I do?
A: When facing the cabinet from the front, locate where your platform stopper is on the back panel. The platform stopper should be at the bottom of the back panel 6 1/2 inches from the right side. If your platform stopper is at the top of the back panel you have the back panel upside down. Take off the top and turn your back panel 180 degrees.

Q: How can I get the platform past the front brace with the rubber bumpers on the 100 or 200 series cabinets?
A: The manual lift tilt mechanism is tricky to use at first. Place your left arm under your sewing machine mounted on the platform and with your right arm turn the key in the back all the way to the right. If you haven't mounted your sewing machine, simply grab the platform with your left hand and turn the key in the back with your right hand. Once the key is turned all the way to the right, begin lifting the platform up. As you lift push the platform back to clear the front brace. Once you have cleared the brace stop turning the key and you will hear the mechanism click into place. If the mechanism is locked the key in the back will be turned all the way to the left.

Q: My rubber bumpers keep falling off my leaf support, what do I do?
A: The rubber bumpers should always go on the outside edge of the leaf support. If you need new bumpers call 1-800-533-7347. Clean the surface of the leaf support before putting new bumpers on it with Goo Gone or a similar product.

Q: Should sewing machines with oil reserves be used in the 100 or 200 series cabinets?
A: No, these cabinets require the storage position of the sewing machine to be upside down and sewing machines with oil reserves could be damaged. The 300, 400 and 500 series have an airlift mechanism that lifts the machine up and down, so sewing machines with oil reserves should be used in these cabinets.

Q: There does not seem to be holes for my drawer runners on the right side piece or the partition piece for my cabinet model 200 or 300 series, what do I do?
A: The drawer runner holes are very small and often, hard to see. To make sure you have holes run your hand up and down the panels before calling the parts department.
Q: My drawers do not seem to fit into my model 200 cabinet, why?
A: The top drawer should be the smallest drawer front and the bottom 3 should be larger. If you have the drawers in the correct order look at your drawer runners. Loosen the screws on the drawer runners. If your drawer runners are turning white by the screw holes, you have tightened the runners down too tightly causing them to bow. Your drawer will not fit in the cabinet with bowed out runners.

Q: Is the platform that I set my sewing machine on in the 300, 400 and 500 series cabinets adjustable?
A: Yes, just loosen up the two bolts on the middle black square bracket with the scale located on the airlift mechanism and either raise the platform up or down. To tighten the bolts down use an 8 mm wrench. If the platform returns to the same position the bolts are not tighten down enough.

Q: The drawers on the 300 series cabinets don't fit, why?
A: Loosen the screws on the drawer runners. If your drawer runners are turning white by the screw holes, you have tightened the runners down too tightly causing them to bow. Your drawer will not fit in the cabinet with bowed out runners.

Q: Do I need to bolt my sewing machine down to the platform in the cabinet for the airlift mechanism to work properly?
A: No. It is not necessary to mount your sewing machine down. The Air-Lift will work with or without the sewing machine being mounted down. We recommend that no sewing machine should be bolted down.
Q: My cabinet did not come with an insert listed as part number 9801, why?
A: The insert is a special order piece made to the dimensions of the sewing cabinet opening and the brand name/ model number of your sewing machine. The machine specific insert is not a stocked item, so the insert will ship separately from the cabinet. For further questions on machine specific inserts please call 1-800-533-7347.

Q: The platform my sewing machine is on is not level, what do I do?
A: Loosen up the 6mm hex nuts and bolts located underneath the platform on the steel wings. Once the platform is loosened adjust the platform to the level you want and begin tightening the bolts back down. For best results use two 10mm wrench on both sides of the bolt and a level.
Q: My platform won't go down because it keeps hitting the 2 bolts located on the black square box located on the Air-Lift mechanism, what do I do?
A: Loosen the 6 mm hex nuts and bolts located underneath the platform on the steel wings and pull the platform slightly forward. The platform will only move a few centimeters, but it will be enough to clear the bolts in the back. Remember to tighten the bolts back down.
Q: My Air-Lift mechanism seems stiff and won't lift my machine all the way up, why?
A: The Air-Lift mechanism does not do all of the lifting; it assists you in lifting the machine. You must lift or press on the machine.
